Local reports confirm that developments are planned at Pazundaung railway station with a scheduled start in January 2016 for Myanmar Railways (MR).
The site is in Pazundaung township in the South Eastern area of Yangon, Myanmar. 13 companies have expressed interest in the construction of multi-storey parking for 2,000 cars. Due to the area available, 2.73 acres, further announcements are expected for the construction of a hotel and a shopping centre. So far mostly local firms have responded to the invitation. A joint venture is envisaged with the successful bidder.
The car park is in line with other plans to ease traffic congestion in Yangon. These include the construction of flyovers and nationalising bus services. Yangon International Airport is located to the North of Yangon, distance 18kms.
