For those wishing to apply for a visa to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar there is now further good news. The Immigration and National Registration Department have confirmed that new forms of visa are now available. These are valid whether you are visiting on business or as a tourist or a student. There are six additional forms of visa and three forms of re-entry visa. These changes are effective now.
The deputy director of immigration and national registration department Mr. U Aung Thiha had already made announcements last year, which introduced new visa options to “support the development of Myanmar’s economy”. This theme is enhanced further to encourage more international visitors to Myanmar. Visa and re-entry applications have procedures that are now easier with the new options available, comprising of twelve forms of entry visa and three forms of re-entry visa.
The Government’s objective was for up to five million visitors in 2015. In 2014 the reported figure was three million, two million in 2013 and one million in 2012. So as you can see, this positive growth is substantial and ongoing.
