You may have seen our blog of December last year with the news that Espressonite chose FocusCore to assist with the launch of a new chain of coffee havens in Myanmar. The first concept beverage bar, Espressonite, opened in Yangon.
Clearly they were not alone in seeing retail opportunities in Myanmar. Last Tuesday press releases appeared that announced a new joint venture between the Myanmar Bakery, part of the Shwe Taung Group of Myanmar (STG) and BreadTalk of Singapore, who together will create the BreadTalk bakery chain in Myanmar.
This the first commercial activity for BreadTalk in Myanmar. According to the STG press release, this is a first for Myanmar bakery, now entering the food and beverage sector in Myanmar.
Established in 1990, STG is one of the leading corporations in Myanmar, with over 6,000 employees. STG owns and operates the Junction Centre group of shopping centres. Their interests also cover real estate, asset management, construction, construction materials, energy and infrastructure, trading, and insurance and they hold the distributorship rights for BMW vehicles in Myanmar. The first BreadTalk shop is scheduled to open in the spring next year, in one of the shopping centres.
A gourmet note, BreadTalk have their own Research and Development (R&D) team, where “Master Chefs conjure culinary magic” for thousands of recipes.
